Buffalo is a leaner alternative to beef, with a rich flavour appealing to dogs. Research has shown that the meat from buffalo is high in nutrients because of the proportion of protein, fat, minerals and fatty acids to the calories it contains. It is lower in sodium, higher in iron and moderate in zinc compared to other domestic red meats.
